When this new site was formed,I was one of the first to register,hoping that all the probs from the old site would disappear,
leaving us with a happy site? Within a week or so I found it necassary to delete my membership.

I still look in most days but as a snooper only.
Reading the above responses to what was an interesting question from a regular poster, one can see quite clearly what is wrong with this site.
Having opinions is one thing, going off topic to be critical of others is now way to further British Stteel playing.

Well Folks,as I said at the beginning of this post that I would call The Late John Hughey.
I did call John last night and He said that He would call Buddy Emmons.
The telephone exchange tells Me that the calls to British players has been disappointing.None for Sarah,Gerry Hogan,Derek Thurlby,Dave Kirk,Ken Byng
Gordon Huntly,Barry Gaskell and several others.These players are at the top of the Brit list.

A few disagreed with me then, perhaps I didnt make myself quite clear, but the point I was trying to make was, we seem to ignore our own British talent, (with the exeption of a few self publicists) ok steel guitar in the UK compared with in the States may well be a minority interest, but the names you have metioned above are ace players,some of them world class. Im sure we could all add a few to the list.
Id rather chat to and get tips from any of the guys and gals on your list, they all have loads to offer any of us.

Having said that Billy, I would love (another) chat with Jimmy Day.

Baz, I am a little surprised that a player of your ability passes remarks on a forum about how other steelies play. I am sure a lot of us would dearly love your experience and knowledge of our instrument. We all live and hopefully learn but may never reach your standard but should that be open for ridicule?

I didn't, but if only back slapping comments are apropos it would make for an "Old Boys Club" attitude. Not that I did criticise anyone's playing, I MAY criticise the ability to read correctly however.

Is it correct then that only praise is allowed and not criticism of ANY kind ?
Not that I did criticise in a derogatory sense, in fact I Hold my hand up to the accusation of criticism:- I did criticise POSITIVELY the abilities of the players I listed.
