Greeting Mr ’H’! You’re confusing me with that ‘Southwold’ one! A much better flavour than mine! I don’t have the ‘n’ in it! Just Adams (as in the Family!!)

Interesting takes on this thread and as ever varying views, the layout mirrored the old forum as I stepped in to assist Roy get it on a more stable platform when everybody was disappearing, it was not the intention to change anything, the only addition in fact has been the Lap Steel section, all observations and suggestions have merit but I still regard this as ‘Roy’ Site’ and as such his decision for major layout changes, whilst the workings in the background have and continue to modernise in what we can now do etc., it largely remains as was. Perhaps a good idea would be to continue the thought processes and input here for the next few weeks and then we can have a sit down ‘over one’ at the ISGF and kick the future around! I think Roy may see that as a good plan! The best to you for now and thank you for taking the time on the input! All constructive input is appreciated!

Graeme, firstly, congrats on doing your first gig on steel, and after only three months, perhaps i might start a 'my first gig' post, what section??? but re you having nothing to say, well you do, but its a confidence thing, i have asked loads of daft questions, or what i thought were daft questions, and always received help and guidance, never ridicule, so any newbies reading this, POST, AND ASK QUESTIONS! i will help if i can, but there are others on here more qualified on a lot of matters than me, and they will also help, i am a newbie at home recording, and i know that you, Graeme, can be a great help to me there, just as Basil has been, i still ask questions about the steel and electronics etc etc, i dont pretend i know everything, only Basil knows everything, not joking, he truly does, SO MORE NEWBIE POSTERS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that. It was no big thing really, I only played psg on five numbers in a 2 hour set - and they were simple 3/4 chorders. In truth, I faked rather than played my way through it. However, I'm a firm believer that there is nothing more useful than getting out there and just 'doing it'. You can sit at home practicing forever, but there's nothing like playing in front of an audience to make you up your game. I am fortunate enough to play with a group of guys who are not that good but have a lot of fun and are prepared to put up with my mistakes (as I have with them). I was a little surprised by how nervous I was, it was like being 18 again .

I don't lack confidence. However, I do know that it can be very frustrating for the more established and knowledgable members (of any forum) to find themselves answering the same basic questions, time and time again. Unlike a lot of beginners, I do search the archives and use a search engine to see if my query has popped up somewhere before - and in 99% of the cases it has, so there is no need to waste other's time..

That's true - as a recording engineer I am in a position to help members with something like that.
