First couple of gigs

Mon Apr 25, 2016 10:41 am

My duo Jonas and Jane is currently touring with a North Carolina band, Underhill Rose. The girls found out from the TM that I "play" steel, so they wanted me to play a few numbers with them.

So this is my first time playing live or in front of anyone apart from my girlfriend, producer and Ken.

After the rehearsal, they were very happy with my playing and were impressed with the noteable licks I replicated from the recordings. The two gigs so far have gone really well and am looking forward to the final 5 :)

Venue: The Swiss Cottage, Twyford, Hampshire

Venue: The Cranleigh Arts Centre, Cranleigh, Surrey

They're only short clips, I hope to get the full song at the next few gigs, some have some fun parts in.

What do you think?

Sounds great and complements the music really well. Congratulations - must be great to be asked to sit in like that. Please post the full tunes when you can. Enjoyed them very much.

BTW - I meant to ask, what instrument(s) do you normally play in your duo?

Thanks everyone! :)

Jeff, Usually for live stuff, I play a Round Neck Resonator Guitar (Hofner) and Open Back Banjo (Deering).

Check out our new EP if you haven't: https://open.spotify.com/album/1qKFjugPHnznnIT2Kllsjo, Give us a follow if you like it :)

On recordings I also add Square Neck Dobro, Mandolin and Pedal Steel.

Danny, Thanks! I'll make sure I let you know if I play in Scotland, the most we're going with this tour is Staffordshire on Wednesday. I believe the North Carolina band are coming back in November and doing more of a northern tour, so some Scottish dates might in the mix!
