Boss DD3..?

Sun Nov 08, 2015 8:48 am

Is there any pedals you think are better?

The Dispatch Master from EarthQuaker Devices gives excellent reverb and delay, with analogue controls, in a single slimline stomp box. I don't use my Digitech RP200 since I got it, I get everything I want from that one tiny box. I rate it very highly.

The DD3 Is probably looked upon as the industry standard, however I prefer analogue rather than digital.
I have a very good Wampler Faux Analogue and My present Benado steel Dream is My favourite at the moment.

I use a GLX DD-050 Digital Delay , very good.
After Kevin Batholomew heard it he went straight and purchased one himself, he said he was pleased with it.

I've gone for the good old faithful DD3.
Thanks for your replies.

The dispatch master looked great though.

Derek. I would, but Lee on the BJS stall bought it from me in Dallas.
It's a job getting another as good as that was.

I used a DD3 for years but on comparing it with a TC Electronic Flashback I discovered the DD3 was sucking tone badly from the signal. I quickly ditched the Boss unit and I've been using the Flashback ever since. The Flashback is around the same price and is just as simple to use. If you're interested there's also a lot of variation in the type of delay. So, no I do not agree the Boss DD3 is best delay ever made.

Do I dare ask what is the difference between delay and reverb?

This is a genuine question. I managed A-level physics over 40 years ago, but without ever having to study "sound".

I use a DD3, set to copy my favourite steel player's settings and vary the reverb on the amp depending on venue, but only in the attempt to get a certain sound that I like/love. I haven't the vaguest idea what I'm doing though. No clever-dick answers or put-downs please - just a simple answer, plus or minus a dash of science as and when necessary. Thanks.
