Been listening to BBC radio pop up Country, on DAB, my question is --- What Country?? So far all the live acts broadcast have been out and out rock

Can't speak for what is going on in smaller stages but hope there is actually Country Music going on there.

I agree with you Malcolm, it all seems to be rock or folk. Have you listened to Bob Harris country on Radio 2 ? it's exactly the same, you'll be lucky if you hear two country songs on the whole show. Sorry, early morning rant.

Country music died in the USA some 20 years ago, so it was always going to be the case that the country pop/rock trend would transfer over here. Malcolm - you and I are just a couple of old farts who like country from a generation ago. I was lucky to be a pro steel player when country was in its heyday some 30 or 40 years ago. I don't think those days will ever return.

you are going to the right place this week Ken, Dallas!! Enjoy all that real Texas music, not a distorted or overdriven guitar in sight, no folk singers claiming to be Country, sheer heaven.Have a great time and give my regards to everyone, just going to remove Radio 2 from my settings so I don't have to listen to Bob Harris's Rock/Pop and Folk show, certainly not a Country show by any stretch of the imagination.

I spent two days at the O2. best ROCK concert I've seen in a while. And I don't mind rock. I just didn't go there for that.
Lee ann Womack was pretty good, but the rest-My God, you should all hang your head in shame. Florida Georgia Line were so loud they nearly deafened us both. Kip Moore was ok ish, and as for Brantly Gilbert. Whats the Gangster rock star redneck look got to do with country.
Never Again.

Malcolm
I am off to Heathrow shortly as I am staying at the Sheraton at Heathrow tonight and fly out at 11.15 tomorrow morning. I expect there will be quite a few people asking after you at the show. The MSA folks certainly will miss you, plus Jeff Surratt and company in the exhibition hall.
Back to your post, I have been doing some work with a young singer songwriter called Ian Lucas. He is just starting out and is writing some great contemporary country stuff, and loves the steel parts that I have done for him. Not exactly traditional country, but interesting and certainly more on the traditional format than Bob 'Arris puts out. I would like to see Ian do something as he just loves authentic country with a modern twist.
