John Davis

Fri Jan 30, 2015 8:15 pm

I just want to give a big shout out to John, we all know him and that's because he does so much for us this side of the pond. Most of us will have either bought a steel or something from him in the past, his enthusiasm never waivers and he's always got the kettle on!

Me and a young chap called Joe went up to see him again today, just for a chat and a catch up and to trade a few licks. We had a good laugh and it was great to see him.

Anyone looking for a steel guitar can't go wrong by looking to JD first

I think it's highly important that these people are recognised and acknowledged for what they do. John was the person that got me started and put me on the right track and I just want to publicly say thank you. I don't know what anyone else will say about you JD  but i reckon you're a top bloke.

All the best

Matt

I'm very happy to endorse this thread. When I was looking for a pedal steel, being very new to the psg world, John was the one who responded and I am now the happy owner of a Sho-Bud - a bit of a 'Franken-bud' but John was quick to point out the pros and cons of this. He gave me my first insights into psg chord voicing and now, just three years later, I've made mates with loads of players, both 'live' and on-line and both here and in the States, and made sufficient progress so that I am now on the threshold of my first public performance, accompanying a singer-songwriter up here in the North-East. I'll give an honest appraisal here of the gig, once completed, but, when I got the steel from John three years ago, I'd never have thought it (and me) would have come even this far.
John has provided support, advice, knowledge and fun to regular readers (and listeners) on this Forum. I'm indebted to him.

Without JDs contributions to our BSS site it would be a dull and dark old place, 2090 something posts,I guess that says it all.
His readiness to help, advise, teach and support our steel guitar community is admirable, so many of the young guys, newbies have found JD to be a one stop free information site for all matters steel guitar.
I myself am way out on a limb down here in rural Wales, far away from anything steel guitar, my regular catch up chats with John are always fun,and my lifeline to steel guitar gossip (christ we dont half  )
John Davis is a star.
(JD my adress for cheques is still the same  :guitar:)
