Was playing last two nights in Newcastle and met with a young man called Tom Fletcher, who had come along to look at my gear.He sat at my guitar, and although the levers were a different set up, I could very quickly see he had an excellent touch.I think this young man is going to be right up there with the best in the future.The boys from the band told me he is also a very good dobro player, and had sat in with them in the past.Great to see younger people coming into the steel world.Thanks for coming along Tom, was great to meet you.

Great to hear this Malcolm - I'm probably moving up to Newcastle in the autumn and was hoping there might be a psg 'community' up there - at least there's one! (Although my age doesn't qualify me for one of the 'younger' players {and certainly not my ability}). Good to known there's a bit of steel up there!

Nick, a few guys up that way, both pedal and lap steel. A very vibrant music scene there, all genres.Main problem is it is very cold , take your thermal underwear with you.Only exception is if you are out clubbing, uniform is short sleeve shirt for males and as skimpy a dress as possible for females( armless, practically body less, and short as possible) I love it there.
