DALLAS 2017 - ON THE HORNS OF A DILEMMA

Postby Ken Byng » Sun Jan 08, 2017 1:36 pm

Up to this weekend I had decided to attend the Dallas steel jamboree in March on my usual annual pilgrimage to this event. However I received an invitation to attend an event in Nashville in September, which would also allow me to take in a visit to the Station Inn to see my friends Mike and Joanie Johnson and their band, 45 RPM. I had to weigh up both options, and reluctantly decided to give Dallas a miss this year as I can't spare the time to do two trips to the USA this year.

The only plus out of making my decision is that I will be able to visit the O2 in March to catch up with Mike Johnson who is playing there with Reba McEntire. I will miss seeing many of my friends in Dallas - some of whom are even older than I am. :o

Sorry to hear that Ken. Ivor and I was looking forward to your company. In fact, we even booked
a table at the Saltgrass Steakhouse for Thursday night. Is Malcolm planning on going to Dallas?

Mr McMiser - I don't buy you a drink at Dallas because you get p*$$ed after half a pint and start lifting up your kilt.

Ted - I love meeting up with you and Ivor, and might well try to get to one of your monthly club meetings later in the year to make up for Dallas.

Paddy, if you are reading this it goes to prove how tight the English are, and they have cheek to call us Scots miserable, do anything to avoid paying for a round. :o ;)

Paddy
Here is a potted history of McMiser's youth. He's the one who misses out on the shapely blonde sort through a substantive inadequacy.

You guys are the reason I go to Dallas. Always enjoy the banter. Any of you are more than welcome to visit in South Carolina if you get close. Hope to see many of you in Dublin in October.

I'm in Nashville in September Charley - going to meet up with Mike Johnson, and also been invited to Jeff Surratt's annual 'pick-nic' garden party where he has some special guests playing. I will also try to get to do lunch with my pal Buck Reid if he is not touring with Lyle Lovett.

Never been to S. Carolina, only the northern outskirts of N. Carolina when I stayed at the Smokey Mountains one year and drove south one day. You must know steel guitar tech Billy Knowles. A good guy to know if you need any parts or work done on your guitar.
