Malcolm,
Can't find the correct adjective to express My thoughts on reading this post. Shock ? Sorrow ? and many more.
Am I right in assuming that Your "back" problems are the only contributor?
Knowing how much Steel guitars have meant to You for a great many years I cannot accept that You are packing in.I guess You will still have Your rig set up at home and who knows,You could get some recording equipment and perhaps add some steel to a cyber band.
Best wishes
Billy

Billy, many reasons, no work , shit money, long trips to play, and bad back on top of all that.My plan is to sell off equipment, as I can't justify five grands worth off equipment sitting about when money could be put to better use.Regards Malcolm

Malcolm, I've just checked the date to see if it was April 1st fools day but no it's not.
I am in shock, there was no mention of this the other week in Dublin when we all met for a great festival.
Your love and dedication over the years for our belove instrument doesn't add up to me. But I am so sorry to hear this. You will certainly be missed by all your mates in the steel world. :o
You must have given this some thought but give it some more . I will even buy you that doughnut.

Roy, not even you buying donut could convince me to change my mind.Thought long and hard about this over the last year or so.If I can talk wife round I would like to invest money in a microlight aircraft, but think I might be on a loser there.
