1970's Sho Bud LDG Lloyd Green Model Pedal Steel Guitar

Postby darren_john92 » Tue Nov 07, 2017 8:26 pm

Sho Bud LDG in great condition with a few age related marks, a couple of light scuffs in the pad but certainly no tears or anything like that and the colour is still very much dark green (some tend to fade a little more than others i've noticed).
The steel has 3 floor pedals and 4 knee levers. currently in a 'day' setup. Unsure of exact year of manufacture but it is 1970s.
The guitar all works as it should and it has been recently set up and serviced by (the genius) Dave Seddon in Leicester.

There is a bit of history with this one as well. It used to belong to steel virtuoso Sarah Jory once upon a time. I purchased it about 8 years ago from the guitarist in her band who had bought it from her as an 'investment'. He didn't play it mind and to be honest i've not done a great deal on it, so it's had relatively little use for such an old instrument. I found an old Sarah Jory LP on the net with the guitar on the front (a bit anoraky i know!) so that will be included in the sale as well.

Price is £1600

It is with a heavy heart that I am parting with this one but i've bought a new Mullen and this one is too nice to just let sit in the case.

Don't really want to ship this if i can help it, viewing and collection is most welcome from me in Leicestershire (LE67)

Darren
Your story and pics take me back a few years. I worked as an agent for John Edmed at Sho~Bud London back in the 70's. I had been teaching Sarah for a couple of years, and her father, Arthur Jory, rang me one weekend and said that he wanted to buy Sarah a much wanted LDG. It was her dream guitar. I arranged to meet him and Sarah at the shop one Saturday to take a look at the LDG. Because I had the Day setup on my guitar Sarah wanted the same, so Ron Mawn who worked on their steels at the time changed the pedals and levers round for her. She couldn't properly reach the pedals at first, but she persevered.

She had the guitar for quite a few years, and I often wondered what happened to it. I'm pleased that you have shed some light on what happened to her beloved LDG all those years ago. Good luck with the sale - it's great to see an older Sho~Bud that has retained its original colour.

Thanks for that Ken, glad it's bought back some memories. Makes me want to keep it! If only I had the space.

If it sold through this forum, you might want to consider donating towards the running costs. eBay would have taken £160+ from you for the sale... :guitar: :guitar:
