GFI S10 Ultra keyless short scale 3x5

Postby Peter Johannisse » Sat Jan 31, 2015 1:45 am

Single frame GFI, custom built by Gene Fields, 22-1/2" short scale guitar, 3&5, Emmons setup with case. Lightweight, and takes up very little real estate on stage. Short scale good for bar slants, but it's not short on sustain or tone! Super playing and sounding little guitar. Guitar weighs 27 pounds out of the case, and 44 pounds in the case. It's got some nicks and dings, but it's a solid guitar. The holes you see in some of the pictures were left after the removal of custom-made palm and wrist levers used by Kurt Kowalski (formerly his guitar after Gene). Not only does this guitar sound great.
It is light and will fit in an overhead airline bin for fly gigs.
Gene designed it for that.
There were only two built to my knowledge.
This also is 22 1/2 scale same as the Stringmasters that are sought after for bar slant ability. Remember, Gene worked for Fender.
This is a very special guitar.
Yes, it has some rash, but, it is all character marks.
Great deal.

Do you still have the Gfi steel for sale?
its a "all pull", right? but how many raisers and lowers do it have? Do you ship to Finland?

Pro Model changers are all pull, triple raise and double lower. The changer housings are made from an extrusion and designed so that the steel changer axle is supported between every finger, eliminating any possible axle deflection.

The changer finger is where the ball end of the string is anchored and is the main point of contact for the string's vibration to resonate into the wood body. Most steel guitar companies use aluminum for this part. Our stainless steel finger is manufactured by a unique process by which powdered metal is formed under extreme pressure and high heat to create a part much harder than its original starting material. The part is then precision ground to +/- .001" total tolerance and polished. The end result is a finger with much less internal friction and undesired movement in the changer, and provides a harder surface much more resistant to scratching and indentations by the strings. There are sound benefits as well, including a slight increase in overall volume and better note separation in chords while adding a brightness without sacrificing overall fullness of tone.
