Some metal necked LDG's came out of Sho~Bud in the latter part of the '70's. Ron Mawn, who worked for Sho~Bud London, saw many LDG variations come through the shop, possibly including this one.

Great info ken, thanks. Will the metal neck make much difference to the sustain? I sometimes struggle to get a lot of sustain out of my bud

No the metal necks don't make a huge difference on the lacquer guitars, although some with more discerning ears than I have swear they can hear a marked difference between ally and wooden necks. I have aluminium necks on my Pro 111 Sho~Bud, but in my opinion, scale length is more likely to be a factor in sustain especially when playing past the 12th fret.
