Looking for my first PSG - what's for sale?

Postby DorsetSteelPlayer » Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:55 pm

Hi all,

new to this site, although I have been keeping an eye on it for a while. I am a slide guitar seasoned player, who also plays lap steel and record it professionally on some of my client's releases.
I am literally missing out on any sales as they get snapped up quickly on Reverb and Ebay. I missed out on one this morning, which I thought I had bagged and instead I got a refund as it sold overnight!

I have a budget of up to £2.5k max and I would go for a GFI Student brand new to get me started but I worry about the limitations of it and having to upgrade later on.

Anyone planning to sell something that fits my budget and is less restricted than a GFI Student?

Thanks a lot!

I have a Sho-Bud Pro I purchased in the mid eighties that has been stored well, in its original case, with little use beyond its first few years. Three floor pedals and 2 knee levers Blue in colour
Willing to sell for an appropriate price along with tuitional tapes books and accessories . Only just re-joined this group to see what interest there would be but have the receipt for the original purchase from the ESE Music Maidstone.

Not in any hurry to complete a sale and willing to provide any info needed to a potential buyer

Hi Andy
I’ve not been around this site myself for a while but by chance noticed your post. I’m going to sell my ‘spare’ steel as I just dont have the space. It’s a Sierra Stafford Elegante, a proper ‘Pro’ guitar, up to 14 strings, 8 pedals and 7 levers! At the moment I’ve got it set up as a 14 string Extended E9 3 x 5 but I’d be happy to set up any way you want. If it’s your first guitar probably a 12 string Extended E9 with reasonably conventional 4 pedal 5 knee might be the way to go. I find 12 string much better than the usual 10 as it gives you all the roots for the chords but thats personal choice. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send you some pics etc. Price wise, I got it for an absolute steal at £1500 and would pass it on for the same!
Cheers
Calum
