For sale Fender double 8 stringmaster, this has been a t8 that has been made into a d8 its a players guitar hence the price. £850.00 plus shipping. That Stringmaster certainly has authentic tone by the bucketload! Nice work, Alan.

What's going on with the control panels?
Looks like the switching has been modified?

Yes it has been replaced with a 2way switch front neck or back could be replaced with a 3way I guess. This guitar is actually the front half of a quad so the necks are thicker than a standard D 8.

Just noticed in your original posting you said it was a cut down T8 but that front neck does look too thick to be from a triple so I would agree that it must be the front 2 off a quad.

Yes jeff I was told it was from a triple 8 but when my T 8 arrived I realised it must be from a quad. If no one shows any interest I may strip and refinish it. I would like to replace the back pickup plate and selector switch if I do keep it. Do you know where I may find a plate?

Hi Alan,

Sadly, stringmaster parts are rare as hens teeth it seems :(

\However, when I was re-building my quad recently, I ended up with an extra control plate (blank - no holes drilled for knobs or switches). It's not an original one, but one that someone had made but it is exactly the right size, shape etc. However, it isn't chromed but I reckon somewhere that does custom car parts might be able to re-chrome it and it would be pretty much indistinguishable from an original.

Let me know if you might be interested, I can send some pictures.
