Peavey Nashville 400 for £200 incl courier.

Price £200 includes transit & Insurance.

1989 Peavey Nashville 400 (serial number 9A-03981317 89B) open-backed combo with 15” Black Widow full range ‘speaker that was made specifically for Pedal Steel and/or Telecaster (or similar, if such a magnificent workhorse even exists!).
Although it’s rated at 210W rms, it can still produce superb tone when played at neighbour-friendly volume.

The User Manual giving all the features can be seen here…

I’ve owned it for the past 7 years and it hasn’t left my bedroom, partially because I can’t lift the bugger, but mostly because I don’t want to inflict pain on innocent ears.

Anyhoo… Two years ago I replaced every electrolytic capacitor, which instantly eliminated noise, and I also upgraded the standard op-amps with genuine Burr Brown OPA2143PA chips that completely transformed the tone. Money very well spent!

Apart from the weight (just under 5 stones), the only thing that bugs me is the “power-on pop” which, according to Peavey aficionados, is nothing to be concerned about. My collie dug does not agree.

The previous owner did gig with the amp (he played Tele), so it does have a few minor war wounds on the vinyl, mostly the lower edges.
The only non-operational feature is the Reverb, and the reverb tank had been removed when I bought it. This wasn’t a problem for me since I like my Boss RV-5 pedal.
It comes with a new dust cover (not original).

The Pre-EQ patch on the front panel allows a potentiometer-based volume pedal to be used without affecting tone.
More detail on this can be found here …

If you use effects pedals (sustainer, digital delay, etc) then the jack sockets at the rear of the amp will place these effects after the pre-amp output but before the power amp input.
The amp has built-in automatic compression which momentarily cuts in when it senses that clipping is imminent.
