My best advice is always buy the best you can afford when it comes to steel guitars but if you cannot afford to find 1k plus for a pro guitar this old ZB is as good as any student model and better than most, it is also what I started out on a few years ago.... It has the same type mechanism as the "pro" models as well as adjustable legs, and when your ready to part with it and move up, if you put it on Ebay you will get at least your money back.....most probably more! You have nothing to lose
