Musicman 115-'sixty five' for sale

Fri Jan 25, 2013 5:52 pm

Hello people....

finally getting around to selling this one, and thereby enabling me to fund another project! :D

Some of you may recall....in the dim and distant past...that I put out a 'feeler' on this one.
Well....there was a lot of interest at the time, but no offers of any kind.
So I'm going to stick my neck out, and go for a price of £625!

Still not sure if the JBL K130 is original to the combo....or was a replacement...some conflicting theories abound on that subject.

Bought almost 5 years ago, and it's never been out of my 2nd floor flat.
Pretty excellent nick, with castors and 'new' power cover.
New pair of EH 6CA7's fitted, and bias correctly adjusted.

Needless to say....a heavy item....which would need to be picked up from Leeds.

By all means, PM me with your thoughts!

Kevin, I sold one of those about 9 yrs ago. It was also fitted with a JBL 15" After a little research, I discovered
these amps were aimed at the steel guitar market in USA. Nice amp, and in great condition ...... Im surprised
no-one has grabbed this. Anyway, good luck with the sale.

Thanks for that Ted....

A little search on Steelguitarforums confirms that, for some folks, this is an amp of choice for Steel...

......after 220 or so hits, I did think there would be 'some' comment made on this, even if folks weren't actually queueing up to buy it!!! :D

I am not in the market for this because I have a Musicman 112 Fifty, which I use with my steel. It's a nice amp once I tamed the highs. AFAIK it's not targeted at the steel market, but several people on the US SGF seemed to be happy with it. I've had my Musicman for years and originally bought it as a guitar amp. I am very pleased with sound I get from it now on steel. I imagine the amp advertised here would be much the same or even better because of the speakers.

If mine breaks I'm not sure what I would replace it with. Perhaps a Roland 80XL. I can't really afford a top notch Fender and weight is an issue for the Peavey's.

Thanks Chris

...though I think Ted had it right when he said this amp was originally aimed at the Steel market!

Here's a link to Musicman '74 brochure.....scroll down to page 4...

"It is also an excellent amp for the steel player due to it's ability to handle complex chord structures without breaking up"

...and on top of that....it is fitted with a JBL K130.... ;)

Sorry, Kev, I meant my Musicman 112 Fifty was not aimed at the steel market. I should have made that clearer.

Musicman amps were superb high build quality amps, built between 75' and 85' i believe, i would imagine this combo would be superb for steel, i was personally never sold on a 15" speaker for telecaster, but some guitarists love them, and this would, im sure, be a great combo for gigging on lead and steel, and it looks in great nick, hmmm tempting ??? just one thing Kev? your price crash from your original price of £625, down to ............£625 ??????
