[SOLD] Rod King Frypan, Rickenbacher Repro.

Rod King Frypan, Rickenbacher Repro

Model RKR24 (1991)
It's a faithful reproduction. Celebrating 60 years of the Electric Guitar.
The RKR 24 steel guitar is made in the authentic 1930's style of the original Electric Guitar the Rickenbacher A22.
Made in 1931, the Rickenbacher A22 was the FIRST commercial electric guitar.

This guitar is as it left the factory and virtually unblemished, incredible tone and sustain, it brings the advantage of SEVEN Strings to a guitar styling that was originally six string, opening up some very usable tuning possibilities. i.e. Jerry Byrd's C6/A7 (A tuning he pioneered and aptly demonstrated on the Youtube postings.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0RvvAfcBtY

The scale length is :- 24"
The string spacing is :- 3/8" at bridge, 5/16" at nut

The pickup is wound in the traditional pre 1940's way with the correct pre-war gauge wire and appropriate magnets.
"Tone to the Bone" would be best to describe the guitar's unique voice.

£575 + S&H or make an offer

This is from the "Ron Whittaker Collection"

Well firstly I can tell you that whoever worded the E-Bay action had it quite wrong. It's NOT A 'one off', there were 15 made and they were ALL made in 1991 (Read the picture of the keys and card).
Rod KIng made them, yes Rod from St. Neots..
The complete guitar is ONE piece it's not mig welded.. solid neck.. Rod said that the hollow neck construction presented too much of a problem regarding tuning variances with temperature. (and Rod told me it's one of only 15 ever made..

Rod King is a close friend of our family and in fact is also in the European steel Guitar Hall of Fame. He was a top session steel player in the UK whilst I held the same position in Ireland. The steel Solo on Jennifer Eccles (The Hollies Hit) and the "Wolf Whistle" are Rod..
