The next meeting of the North East steelers is on Sunday 24 January at the Buck Inn, Thornton Watlass - 5 miles off the A1.
More attendees needed to help make this a vibrant and viable group. We know you are out there! Plank or pedal - both welcome.
We are covering a num,ber of tunes this time round - Georgia, Crazy, Mansion on the Hill - and I'm sure I've forgotten one or two.

COME ON DOWN!!! Hope to see you there. Let me know if you need backing tracks.

Nick

Sorry for the recent silence from yours truly... my laptop collapsed and has been in hospital for nearly 2 weeks, but we decided today that it was defunct, so, welcome to laptop number 3!!

The full repertoire for Sunday is:
Over the Rainbow
Georgia (on my mind)
Mansion on the Hill
Crazy
Oh Lonesome Me
Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain

I've had no enquiries about attendance from any newcomers, so it could be the four of us again.

If you play slide, steel or pedal steel, this could be the best Sunday you've spent in a long while.

Steve Hicken?? Colin Scarth?? Tom Fletcher?? Come on down (or up, as the map might indicate).

Thanks to Nick and Tony for organising today's meeting.
Nick, Tony Russell Davis, Derek Evans and myself (Keith) attended and played through round-robins of some Country tunes along with a couple of Standards. Tony did some maintenance for Nick and Derek, on the fly. Mick long8shanx came along to see what happens at the meetings and hopefully he'll bring his gear and join in next time.
Once again it was a friendly meeting, but we could still do with a few more attendees. ARE YOU LISTENING?
Keith.

*** I'm posting this on behalf of Mick Gillen (long8hanx), who's not yet figured out how to post a comment.***

Well I still do not know how I arrived here or indeed if here is here at all!
Thanks for the relaxing and informative Sunday I spent at TW. Tony, Derek, Nick and Keith (collectively, The Clever Dickies) made some wonderful sounds I will be along next meeting with my GFI (stop sniggering Neil)to add the flat notes and cat sounds. The Buck is a charming place and if anyone decides to attend everyone will make you welcome.
Once again gentlemen thank you for your warm support...I will always wear it."

Mick, and anybody else, will always be welcome at the North East Steelers meetings,
Keith.

It was a cracking session we had at the Buck Inn - probably the best yet, for fun, banter, some great (and not so great) playing - but a very relaxed setting and I think people were generally prepared to take a few more risks with their playing and soloing. Keith played a cracking tune (the name of which I've forgotten) on lap steel and we had a great time.
We were joined by Mick - who will definitely return to our next meeting in April (more details a bit nearer the time) with his GFI and he'll be a welcome addition.
The North East Steelers (or the Clever Dickies, as Mick has dubbed us) offers a fun, relaxed and informal opportunity for steel guitarists of all persuasions to get together, play, learn from each other and have a great time to boot.
New members always welcome - we are putting together the song list for our next meeting, and details and backing tracks will follow in due course.
The next meeting will be on Sunday 24 April. Anyone within an hour or so's driving time of Thornton Watlass really should make the effort to come along.
New members, please send me a PM and I'll add you to the circulation list for tunes, backing tracks and other news.

Nick

Hi Tony, Pat and myself were wondering what the date is for the NESGF ? We really enjoyed the last one we went to; I might even get Pat to play her Fender, this one --->
