Irish steel festival

Can anyone tell me why Irish TV has never covered the Irish steel festival. I have to admit I am not a big fan of Phil Mack but I sent him a text message and he reckons he regularly features steel players but I've never seen them but he doesn't seem all that interested in steel anyway, he seems to be into all this Nashville pop stuff rather than real country with steel guitar. Now Gerry Byrne, (The music lounge) is definitely into it but I haven't been able to get in touch with him. I reckon someone should try and get hold or him and try and get the show featured on Irish TV. I'm sure it would be worth it for everyone that can't get there and I would think it would be worth it financially to the organisers. OR AM I TALKING CRAP????

Come to think of it I'm a bit surprised that Basilh hasn't had a word with his pal Bob Brolly, he seems to have some influence at the Irish TV???

MAYBE if there was some support shown for the show that I'm associated with I could have some influence. But at the moment the lack of my peers interest in the Brolly & Friends show is not exactly encouraging. Considering the show is semi co hosted by myself playing "Devil's Advocate" and I am resident MD, do all the sound editing and mixing etc. I also Feature a steel guitar instrumental on every show and have my own special section of the set (Basil's Island, and even my own dedicated camera."BasilCam".)

This may be better for all concerned if it was continued "Of-Line"

Thanks for axing me Tony, you'll hear no "Showboating" from me on the show, just straight tunes aimed at the "Punter"
Brolly and Friends is broadcast every Thursday night at 8.00pm then again at 2:00am on Friday morning and repeated on Sunday at 12 noon. On IRISH TV SKY 191, Freesat 400, eircom’s eVision channel 191, free to air boxes and online live http://www.irishtv.ie/broadcast
I'm MD on the show, have my own special part on the set (Basil's Island) my own dedicated camera and play "Devil's Advocate" during the interviews and also feature an instrumental in each and every show. In fact, including doing the sound, I'm what's commonly known as a General Factotum !
As for Irish TV covering the NEXT Irish Steel Guitar Festival, that's up to the Dublin team.

Let's put aside all the politics for a moment, I and my wife Barbara have just returned from the Irish Steel Guitar Festival, we had a great time and were treated with respect by committee and fans alike, I played my spot which I enjoyed and hope the audience did. I have played at the festival since the Europa days and always had a great weekend, this one being no different. I don't think this type of discussion on an open forum does the steel guitar fellowship any favours. Donny.

I'm going to lock this one for now to avoid further post mortem. Not a high handed action, simply protecting the integrity of the forum.

For any confused by this thread, Basil has some unresolved business with the ISGF which influences his response to the original question, confidential content posted in haste has been removed this morning at Basils request.

Personal grievances over dealings of any nature are not the fodder of this forum and should be dealt with privately between the parties concerned.
