NORTH EAST STEELERS - OCTOBER MEETING

The next meeting of the North East Steelers will be on 11 October, once again at the Buck Inn, Thornton Watlass, from around 12 noon.

We do need some new blood - so for any plank-spankers, steel pedlars or slide-slippers out there, the Buck Inn is the place to be. Friendly, fun and a warm welcome guaranteed. We'll be doing serious damage to 'Flamingo' and 'Moon River' (keys to be determined) and there's an opportunity for everyone to bring a 'party-piece' to play - bring your own backing track, or let me know what tune and key you need and I'll contact Derek and Keith who have offered to knock up a BIAB backing track for you. I'm sure there will be some country standards to murder as well :D :D

The North-East covers a pretty wide catchment area and we have members attending from Hartlepool, Newcastle and North Yorkshire - Leeds, the Yorkshire coast and Durham are all within easy reach, so no excuses. :guitar:

Drop me an email for more info.

ANYONE WHO PLAYS, OR WOULD LIKE TO PLAY SHOULD ATTEND THIS MEETING. IF YOU LIVE WITHIN 2HRS TRAVEL IT WILL BE WORTH IT. BUT IT WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND GO. BEST OF LUCK GUYS, HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AGAIN SOON. DONNY.

Hi Donny,
Thanks for the "plug" for our meetings.
As Nick said, we could do with a few more attendees of any level. The Buck Inn is a great venue set in a typical Yorkshire village and the Landlady lets us use the room free of charge. I'm a relative beginner myself and as I'm a plank player I don't join in with all of the tunes at the meetings. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying them. It takes Derek Evans and myself about an hour and a quarter's drive each way and it's quite a bit more for Nick, but it's worth it.
Keith.

Great day out with Tony, Nick, Keith at the Buck Inn once again . The boss and his staff are the nicest people
you could meet. We are going to have another meeting some time in the New Year to be notified.
It would be great if some more players could come along and join in . The one thing we have in common is the love of the
pedal steel guitar or the lap steel guitar. Its about picking your brains out on 10 or 8 strings learning of each other ,
you don't have to be the greatest player in the world ,but you will pick something that will help you play that little better.
So if there is anyone within an hour of the venue please try to make it if you can. Regards Derek.
