North East 'Steel Pedlars' 2nd meeting

Postby Nick Bidmade » Tue Jul 07, 2015 2:31 pm

The North-East steel pedlars met last Sunday for the second meeting - once again hosted by the Buck Inn, Thornton Watlass. Great beers and the best burger in Yorkshire (according to Derek)!!
Tony Russell-Davis, Keith Glendenning, Derek Evans and Nick Bidmade in attendance. Tom Fletcher 'missing in action'. Video footage to follow from Keith.
We played along to some great BIAB backing tracks that Derek put together, including 'Moonglow', 'Little Old Wine Drinker, Me', 'Heartaches by the Number', 'Autumn Leaves', 'Blue Spanish Eyes' and 'Hello Mary Lou'. Great fun had by all with some great slide playing by Keith, some very tasty playing from Tony, especially on C6 and lovely sounds from Derek's Rains. Tony's old Fender D10 has got more twang that a Bluegrass jamboree!
I think we all managed to 'let rip' a little - Keith now has the unenviable job of editing three hours of filming into something that sounds good enough to put out on YouTube.
All are welcome to join us - watch this space. We don't have a date set for September - it will probably be confirmed in August at the NESGF weekend, 8 & 9 August, again at the Buck Inn.
Early suggestions for songs to cover next time include 'Moon River' and 'Flamingo'.

Hello Forumites,
Here's a clip of the guys playing a round robin of Moonglow. The backing track was produced on BIAB by Derek Evans. The players are, left to right, Nick Bidmade, Keith Glendinning, Derek Evans and Tony Russell Davis.
