John, I've driven down to that neck of the woods a few times. It's a long way!

Will, I was not planning on going,... the pension would not stretch that far.... just thought some more basic info on the event would be helpful for those that are in a position to go, Hell I can't even make it to Ireland let alone southern France :( . The only way I cam make it to a steelies meet is to hold it myself! :o

As Patrick hasn't replied to JD's request for further info, here's a snap translation of the material on this on the French site:

Steel Guitar Meeting 25-27 April, Charlieu, France. (about two thirds of the way down the right hand side, then strike off west for about 30 miles)

Activities: Masterclass led by experienced pro musicians, jam session, concerts etc.
For all amateur and professional musicians, beginners and experienced, from France and elsewhere.

Cost: Euro 60 includes all activities, 4 meals, dormitory accommodation and 2 breakfasts. The dormitory is about 12km away in the surrounding countryside. The activity centre is near the middle of the town, and has parking, a terrace, bar, annexe for the master class etc. The bar area converts for the evening concert.

If you prefer hotel accommodation two local hotel numbers are given: the "Relais de l'Abbaye" or the "Lion d'Or". Hotel accommodation would be extra. There's an e-mail link to the organiser if you are thinking of going.

There's a little vagueness about the dates. I think it's one of those "arrive late Friday, depart early Monday" things.
