Barford steel meeting review !

Hi everyone.
I loved this meeting. I arrived early and first met Paul, who travelled about 250 miles for me to check out his new Carter.
It didn't take long to discover his tuning problems, Peterson was not set up to default to SWT E9th, and split tuning on the 6 th was not set up. It was a pleasure meeting you paul.

Keven Bartholemew was great, and his Sheffield steel was amazing. Probably the best built steel guitar I have ever seen.

Richards playing was amazing and his choice of instrumentals was perfect, the emmons was fantastic.

Mark, well, loved it, give me another 30 years on c6th and I might catch him up. The Telonics rack is outstanding as I expected it to be.

I was taking it all in right from the kick off, and was impressed by all the players in the early afternoon.

The band were great as always.

I would like to thank John for organising yet another successful meeting.

Keep it up, I will always support this special Sunday event which I know takes a lot of organising and preparing.

Many regards to you all

A big thanks yet again to JD for another enjoyable day. David Hartley and Dunny incredible as always. Thanks to Kevin for bringing his Sheffield Steel. Truly a lovely sounding steel. And a big personal thanks to Richard Burton for taking the time to explain to me some of his "mods" he carried out on his ZB. Although he didnt bring his ZB,both his Marlen and Emmons sounded awsome. Another super player. And yes JD,you played great as well. THANKS AGAIN.

I was a bit late arriving, and missed the first part of the day (the tutorial sessions), but I enjoyed the rest of the day, it was a good meet.

I didn't know that I was going to be playing a set until I got there, so I had to wing it a bit, with help from the band and JD's backing tracks :D

I wanted to try my Marlen out in a live situation, but I'm glad that I took my Emmons PP , as that steel really sings :D

JD had a very nice, mellow tone, from his PP, and played some tasty licks

Mark's the C6 man, now C6 isn't my cup of tea, but I can't help admiring Mark's talent, and enjoyed his set

Mr Hartley, 'nuff said :D
An absolute monster player, he's forgotten more licks than I will ever learn :D
He pulls lick after lick out of the bag, perfect intonation, with excellent tone

I had a very enjoyable time :D

It's no good creeping now David... The continuity man's upset...

Here, here, to all the comments. John, we all so much appreciate what you do to organise these meetings.

I was greatly impressed with many players in the room, it's surprised me how so many people have really improved.

Richard, your playing on the Emmons was really sweet and I'm sure everyone present noticed the world class E9th playing demonstated by David. Even in Dallas or St.Louis only a select few players would have the tone David had last night. I was impressed ;)

Thank you again John

Another excellent meet as we have come to expect, it appears to surpass itself at each succeding meet.
John you are more appreciated than you appear to believe and Sandra's fruit cake is still the best tasted, her unceasing supply of cake and tea's surpasses all.

Best Regards

Ron and Margaret.
