North of England Steel Guitar Festival 2012

Postby Digby Hardy » Sun Feb 05, 2012 10:42 am

For your diaries: Saturday & Sunday, 11 & 12 August 2012, Thornton Watlass, Yorkshire

Tony Russel Davis and I are in the process of developing NESGF 2012, which will be held at the Buck Inn, Thornton Watlass in the second weekend in August.

Just like the South of England Steel Guitar Festival this is a festival for steel players of all levels to improve by actually playing their guitars. There are no auditions, just buy a ticket and come and play.

Details are still in the process of development but the essentials are:
Start - Saturday mid morning.
End - Sunday mid afternoon.
Amplification will be supplied.
Live backing will be available.
Bring your backing tracks if you prefer.

Thornton Watlass is roughly equidistant from Birmingham and Edinburgh - 160 miles, so we have a wide cachment area.

The Buck Inn provides accommodation and there is plenty of BnB lodging in the village and surrounds.

We will have a website up and running by early March.

If you want to know where Thornton Watlass is, it's here:

If you have any questions you can contact me or Tony via this forum.

Tony - I've also booked my room at the Buck Inn, just to make sure.

I've only just published the SESGF 2012 website today. I'm starting work on the NESGF 2012 website later this week - hope to have it up and running sometime next week.

Digby, If there's room for another player, I would be very interested in coming.

Donny

There's plenty of room for players. The problem is that I have not had time to publish the website so players can book on-line.

Tony and I only met up last weekend at the Buck Inn and decided to go ahead.

I'll book you in provisionally (that makes 4 so far) and you can do it formally when the website is up - next week I hope.

Any chance of a photo of you with guitar? I put a photo of all attendees on the website so people will recognise each other when they meet.

See you in Thornton Watlass in August.

David

I told you I'd give you a hand on that one once I got the North thing going. ;)
But we don't want to spoil the buggers for choice - not just yet.
