Thanks again John. Another GREAT day/evening. Again steel players travelled from great distances to attend this meeting. Ted and Ivor from Ireland, a couple of guys from the Netherlands I believe, Bob and his wife from Scotland and many more. And of course, some really nice playing from Jim, Richard, the great Dave Kirk, Bob, the newer players, John himself and all who got their steels out and joined in.

Rod King yet again demonstrated you don't need pedals... amazing! It really struck me how important the meetings are for all of us. When you know you have to play at a meeting you practice... and you only have to think back to John's earlier meetings to hear how we have all improved.

Of course David Hartley's set with Fran and John Stannard was just incredible... I'm sure I speak for all of us; good luck with your move to Austin John... we'll certainly miss you.

Are yes; John Davis's new duo project "Caught Steelin'" looks and sounds GOOD... Kelly has a really nice voice... If you have a club... book them while they're cheap!... send the 15% agents fee to http://www.steelmixer.com.... ha ha

Thank's again John for all you have done over the years. You've helped many people on this forum and in the steel playing community and we greatly appreciate it.

Oh yes, one more thing... Bob's request for funding this forum... if you can spare a fiver please don't for forget to send it too him. Do you have an address for donations Bob?

And lastly, I'll stop rabbiting after this, David Hartley, with a little help from yours truly, is getting very serious about taking over John's meeting. John developed a nice format over the years and David has lots of ideas to build on John's work. BUT he would really welcome suggestions how the meeting could be tweaked to improve it. So if you have any ideas please let him know.

There was an above average number of Emmons push-pulls there, John was getting a very nice tone out of his black mica PP, and Bob was also sounding good on his snakeskin-padded PP.

Dave Kirk and his Mullen are a very good combination, he gets the best out of it, a very enjoyable set

I must confess that, whilst I'm not too keen on non-pedal steel, I was transfixed by Rod King's playing. He's obviously been around the block a few times, and has forgot more than I'll ever know

The same goes for C6, it's not my cup of tea, but I have to admire Dunny for his ability (and he did play some E9 stuff as well, so I can't complain )

My ears had gone towards the end of the evening (as I'd been there from the 10am start) and I knew that I wouldn't be able to play my best, so I passed on doing a set, which gave more time for Jim Pritchard, on his ZB, to exhibit his excellent tone.

I only caught the first few songs of Dave Hartley's set, unfortunately, as I had to be in Banbury for 10:30, but Dave and John's playing were up to their usual standard ie outstanding

Last night I held my final steel players meeting and we had a raffle that raised a little cash, I would like to give half of it to the PDH Centre and half to my friend Dzoh Yao Alex But, I don`t want to give him his directly, I prefer to have you give it to him as I know you will guide him to spend it wisely. As I think you know he has a younger brother who has not been well and an even younger sister Carthrine (that is now living with relations) who has also been poorly, I am particularly concerned about her.
I have told Dzoh to show you respect and wait until you have the time to see him, I hope you let me know that he does?
The cash comes to GB£45 for PDH and GB£45 for Dzoh. I will send tommorow Via Western Union.

Hier soir, j'ai tenu ma acier final réunion des joueurs et nous avons eu une tombola qui a soulevé un peu d'argent, je voudrais donner la moitié de celui-ci au Centre de PDH et demi à mon ami Alex Dzoh Yao Mais, je n `en veux à lui donner son directement, je préfère vous le lui donner car je sais que tu va le guider pour le dépenser à bon escient. Comme je pense que vous savez qu'il a un frère cadet qui n'a pas été bien et une soeur plus jeune encore Carthrine (qui vit maintenant avec les relations) qui a également été mal, je suis particulièrement préoccupé par elle.
J'ai dit Dzoh pour vous montrer le respect et attendre jusqu'à ce que vous avez le temps de le voir, j'espère que vous me le faire savoir qu'il le fait?
La trésorerie vient à GB £ 45 pour PDH et GB £ 45 pour Dzoh. Je vais envoyer demain via Western Union.

Yesterday, 25/08/11 I took my steel guitar to a place called St.Ives in Cambridgeshire UK and I played for an hour to entertain some senior citizens at the "Darby and Joan Club" in return for a donation to your charity, the amount they gave me was £20 and I will be sending this today by Western Union. As its not a very large amount I will pay the Western Union fee myself to ensure you get all of it. Could you please confirm that you receive it to the Darby and Joan club at this addrress [email protected] and send them a copy of the TogoMonde so they can see the good work you do.
I have a meeting of Steelplayers this coming Sunday and the proceeds of our raffle will also be coming your way in the near future.
There is some good news Re. Dzoh Yao Alex, my friend Eric has offered to cover his school fees for another term I believe he is dealing directly with the school in Lome, also Dzoh has now aquired his Nationality certificate and will soon have an ID card .
