Ok John, I don't think there will be any more suggestions for us beginners to learn, it's time to decide on the "finished list" of songs and keys so we can get cracking. I know in theory we should be able to respond to a key change "on the fly" but in practice it never seems that easy, and different inversions of some chords sound better depending on what key we settle on.

Will, theres only been a few tracks suggested so you might as well learn all of`em in all the keys as I think we already have those tracks between us and it will keep you busy

Hi you all out there UK Steelers,

I just joined in, so pse forgive my silly questions- first one: entrance fee = how much including the meal?
If I have a chance I will come over from Holland to meet you all, especially David Hartley, and maybe Basil R. I shall be in contact with my soulmate and co-writer Nick Wass, adm of the Hofner Hounds forum, hoping he can give me accomodation for a few nights and even come with me to the meeting though I know he is very busy at the moment. So it depends all on that if I will come or not.
I rediscovered the lapsteel last Hofner Hounds meeting in Alrewas (Birmingham area) that Nick has been organizing now for a couple of years, and have been building three nice instruments since. I even bought a battered Rickenbacker JB 10, and restored it. I feel that it is time now to consider buying a real psg though I know nothing at all about the technique and playing of this wonderful instrument. Watch out, david H, you have got a serious competitor in Holland now!

I have been playing guitar ever since 1960, and I have a little workshop at home restoring old Hofner guitars.
See also my mini-website.

Well, best regards to all steelers out there, I sincerely hope I shall meet you all soon!

Hi Harry, here is some info that may be usefull for you......There is a Travel lodge about 4 miles from the hall you can book online or talk to someone (eventually) on 0871 559 1804. At the time i write 20.30- 10/07/11 they have.....
27/aug. 8 rooms left @ £76-50 28th aug. 11 rooms left @ £77-65 29th aug. 39 rooms left @ £33-65 IF YOU COULD SHARE WITH SOMEONE..... it does not look so bad ;) This place is attached to my fav.eating house Toby Carvery and the food is great!
Further info, There is no meal provided at my meeting but we do have a catering van attending and you can buy food at a very reasonable price. There is a Bar in the hall.
The admission to the hall is £10, everybody pays (including me and my partner) There should be instruments and steel guitar related items for sale there as I will provide a table and some space for this.

Je bent van harte welkom bij ons in deze buurt Harry, get a PSG and come join us! The first guitar I ever fell in love with was the Hofner Verithin semi, I would still love to get one of those babies. Tot kijk!
