I reckon we're all practicing, trying to get the hang of these Scale things :-)

Is there room for another one on this? I'd like to come along, not sure what I'll be able to play properly by then but I'll have a crack at something and it'll be great to see how it's all done properly - I'm a bit out on a limb here in North Devon and can never get to the Bristol dos so I just rely on you tube, DVDs and that type of thing. There's nothing like seeing it done properly by a real person though and I've got loads of questions about set ups etc.

Ruby, you would be more than welcome. See the better guys doing their thing here http://www.pedalsteel.co.uk/ Click on "events past" for more from previous meetings. Beginners and lesser players have a go in the afternoon slot. Come along and ask all the questions you like you like. Every meeting just gets better and better,as anyone will tell you. See you there then? Regards Graham

Scales, Shaun?? I've got no room for kitchen equipment in my "music room"! Ruby, do come and join us - it will be great to have a lady steel player along. And it'll make John behave himself...

Can somebody explain what the request for track ideas is exactly for?
I had a phone call from a member who attends these meetings who is concerned that you suggest 3 tracks that you would like to play along to so that the player who suggests them is performing them by themselves. I think he is worried about being singled out to play a solo spot. I think John, you was just asking for tracks for the round Robin for everybody to join in when required and so that at least some of the round Robin team have a song played that they can pick along to comfortably.

Is this the case?

Explanation to my friend please, who shall remain unnamed, and I appologise for not replying to the answer phone message, but I didn't know the answer myself. Hopefully JD will explain all here.

MESSAGE FOR JOHN DAVIS........... Keith White wants some E9th string sets urgently. Can you send 6 sets of Buddy Emmons E9th SIT's to me ASAP please and I will settle up on his behalf...
CD's and individual tracks available to download from iTunes and CD Baby.

Yes David, The idea being for the round Robin just so the newbies would have a fighting chance of playing along if they know whats coming and what key it will be in...... It gives them a chance to shine if they can woodshed it a bit b4 they get there. Don`t want anyone embarrassed and they can always pass if they want to :) plus if they suggest the toons they are learning they will know what to expect and better able to cope with it. :)
What we don`t want on this MY FINAL meeting is any wall flowers that bring a steel and leave it in the boot only to wish they had joined in as they are driving home!!!!! Shame on you! Get the bugger out! I sit there playing bum notes all night just to make you newbies feel more comfortable (and because I can) so I would very much like to hear you all have a go...... ;)
Re. intimidation David I think I might have to ban you from the round Robin as I mostley come in to bat after you and that can be demoralising :? How D`ya like them apples :D

All string orders will be out in tomoz post :)
