Hi David, I'd love to come along, either Sunday in May sounds good to me. If you want topic suggestions, I'd like to know more about walk-ups and downs i.e. those little chromatic moves that spice everything up.

Hi all....

Mark Dunn has confirmed he is helping me during the day and we have discussed a few things.
He will be helping me with some tuitional material on the day. He tells me there is interesting picking techniques he has been studying by watching the pro players..

We will get you all playing from the start of the day. I am preparing long tracks for this.
My ideas are to show you simple licks, slides, and runs prior to a track playing, then we will all have a verse and chorus each trying to fit these licks in.. After going round the room, you will each get some individual attention if its needed.
There will be screen projections of licks etc, and ideas of string groupings, how many strings to pick at different sections of the song, following the melody of each song in open chord positions, ( no pedals ) and with pedals down (a+b) chord positions, and adding a harmony note, or notes etc etc....

I will at some point in the day show you a presentation of exactly how I record my steel guitar sessions, and my own videos.
I think you will find this really interesting and for those who already post videos and recordings to YouTube etc, this will really help you improve sound and video quality.

Bring country music song ideas for the round robins later in the afternoon with the house band.
Bring any of your own tracks on your devices if you would like help with anything individually.
You will all get individual help on the day, it's going to be a casual approach without too much time wasted in sitting behind your steels watching too many screen projections.

For the reasons above, please bring an amp big enough to be heard, headphones will not be needed. We all need to hear each other as we are all going to be learning from each other, in hopefully an organised way.

Derek Thurlby has it in his diary and should be joining us too on May 11th.

Obviously Mark, Derek and John Davis and myself will do our individual instrumentals in the evening for you all. anyone else wishing to have a few minutes playing a few instrumentals at the end of the day, please let me know.

Hall is booked from 9am to 8pm, therefore arrive anytime after 9am.

Please bring lots of extension leads for power, we can't have too many of these on the day.

All at floor level this time, no stage show like last time.

Entry for all persons, with steel or without, £10.
CD's and individual tracks available to download from iTunes and CD Baby.
Email [email protected] for tuitional material and lessons.
