Afraid I'm not going to be able to make it tonight. My dad went over to Canada recently to visit my mothers sister and came back with one of my cousins sons, (he's got 8 and another on the way, going for the full team!) who's 14 and we're having to spend a lot of time entertaining him. This is keeping me busy but the real killer was me resurfacing the back lawn from Friday morning to late Sunday evening, thought I'd do it in a day ha ha. Result is I'm totally kaput and hurting all over, so best to take it easy for a few days.

I've also been working on the tune for Danny's CD when I've had a bit of spare time, so haven't had time to try the tunes for this month, so...

Will be at the next one guys, have a great time tonight.

Glad you had a good session with Danny! He tells me he has 22 tracks now! Ace, looking forward to its release!

You missed such a session this evening Mr Holland!! What a shame as I know you would have really enjoyed it! We had a pit stop visit from Ken Byng and a surprise visit from the cheeky chaps we have been trying to get there since the meetings began, Messrs Murdoch, McKillop, and our recent regular Mr McMaster. Get your butts back boys you know you would enjoy it!

Had we had, Billy Lindsay, Ronnie MacAlistair, Tim Davidson, Young Stewart, Geof, Mr 'Key of G' and Tony Totten the evening would have been complete, none the less we had a really great night.

Thank you for making the effort Ken, the journey must have been a consideration (I know I've done it often enough) thank you from all of us it was a privilege to have you with us for the evening, you gave us some nice moves on that Show Pro, Mr Surratt has indeed produced a sweet machine, and it was great to hear it through that Telonics rig.

With our meetings now approaching another anniversary I have two requests.

Ted you were our first VIP guest, thank you, you made the effort to visit from Ireland and it was super to have you with us! Now Ken Tonight (thank you also) ...... some seriously nice Licks in there

But!......It would be so good to see Mr Davis and Mr Heap at some stage in the not too distant future as you guys have been the backbone of 'steel meetings' in recent years, giving so much in the name of PSG! please come see us soon!

Ken said to me tonight, what you have here is wonderful, at one time we had a dozen steel players in Southampton, now it is Dave Wheelhouse and I .......... Such a shame!

Some sweet day I will get to Tony's meeting in the North East and to the you 'young crew' in London, believe me when I say, it is not that I don't want to!

Like when I went to one of Jim Pritchard's Christmas bashes in Wimbourne (meeting Jim, Slim, Dave & Derek was great!) it is so good to enjoy the fellowship of our UK players.

We are a force to be reckoned with, for goodness sake let's keep doing it 'together'! :guitar:

PS: Malcom has a photo of the motley crew I'm sure he will put it up shortly .......... as for video, I'll be as quick as I can!! :D

Well said Bob!
It was a real pleasure to meet Ken and hear Ken's tremendous playing and to meet the two 'Billys'. That's a big sound Ken gets, and with the subtle backlighting from the Telonics gear it was like looking across the room at some Golden Calf! His visit was very much appreciated. Some great tunes pulled out of the hat, thanks guys.
With such an esteemed audience I, now, just wish I'd spent more time sitting down at the steel last month. One doesn't enjoy besmirching the family name, don't you know.
Roll on the next one!

Thanks so much guys. I was privileged to interlope on your monthly meet. You have some seriously good players up there, and the less experienced members acquitted themselves admirably. First and foremost this is a holiday trip for me, and Mr Adams kindly invited me to participate when I told him I was coming to Scotland this week.

There were no egos, no trying to outdo each other, just sheer enjoyment of playing the instrument with fellow enthusiasts. Players of all levels of experience and styles were on display, on a wide range of instruments. There was some superb dobro playing from one of the guys.

Thanks to my old friends Billy Murdoch and Malcolm McMaster for their very kind invites to their homes - we had some very humorous conversations and stories to share. Willie Gamble, Bob Adams and Donny Johnston are 3 of the best players in the UK. I am just jealous that there is not anything like this in Southampton. We used to have some great players back in the 1970's, but most have moved away or gone on to other interests.

I have 3 days in Inverness now, and then back to Chapelhall for 2 days and then the long trek back home. All the best to you all. :D
