Sorry JD - Sundays are gig days for me. However - I must agree with you and Roy. Apathy with this forum will bring about its demise if we are not careful!! There are about half a dozen regular posters, and it needs an infusion of new faces on here.

I will make a new donation today and challenge those who have never contributed to do so. :!: :!:

That was a yes from me John, despite the 4 hour journey. Any Sunday would be fine although it looks like it could be me, you and the Jammy Dodgers.

Harry your a Star :o and a shining example to the steel community, however, you me and the jammy dodgers will not cover the cost of the hall so I think we are going to be looking at the other side of Xmas...........
OK lets try a different approach.......... Those of you that think it a worthwhile idea, Post a list on the forum of say, six dates that you would be prepared to come and I will work from those list to find the day to book the hall......
How d'ya like them apples Eh!

John, I will have to consult she-who-must-be-obeyed, but this is right on my doorstep and I'd love to do this. Everyone coming should be prepared to demo one chosen song or piece - chosen for a move in it they like, or which taught them something. Then we can all chip in and have a go, round robin, like the SSGW.

Funny thing, I had been noticing the reduced traffic levels, to the extent that I held off replying to some threads because it would look like I was bombing the site. But then I always had too much to say. This is a miserable time of year, cold weather has arrived and maybe members are hibernating a bit. I'm not sure that means we have a problem, Houston, maybe it's just a quiet time.

But I love the idea. If I can be there, I will be there.

Footnote: I'm really puzzled. I looked carefully for posts on this forum today, and found nothing basically, except a contribution from Ken Byng. Now I see a whole thread, half of it during this morning apparently, that wasn't visible at lunchtime. Weird or what?

Not sure about apathy...if that's the case then this is the busiest dead forum I've ever seen....clicking on view active topics on the main page menu lists topics posted to in the previous 7 days, which at the moment runs into 2 pages (28 topics). Looking back at the stats that's about average for the 4+ years the forum has been going.

There's more usage if you just count logged in visits who may be just reading...looking at the members list sorted by "last active date" runs into 4 pages (87 members) logged in during the past 7 days.

If you wanted to count guests visits, it gets a lot higher again.

For a forum on a very specialised subject with a limited audience (if you don't mind me saying), those are respectable numbers, IMHO.

No need to look carefully, just click on view new posts on the main page and it'll list all new posts since your last visit...

At the risk of being shot down in flames, I think that a some of the cause is down to progression rather than just apathy. In a word, "Utube". Having started to get to grips with the basics, largely thanks to JD and Slimbo with their basic approach, and for example the understanding of the uses of raising and lowering the E's, the many good examples of playing on "Utube" become more transparent. I'm not saying that it makes the thing any easier to play, but at least it allows a greater level of understanding. :? For my part, I'm never aspiring to play at the Royal Albert Hall, but it gives me a lot of inspiration and enjoyment. Like one of the regulars says "Love what you play, play what you love". :guitar: After all, Steeling is not necessarily, just about cash.

Rant over. JD, please add me to your list for any Saturday or Sunday. :)
