BUT, we owe our allegiance to our homeland and the steel guitar enthusiasts here, So, Hawaii can wait..
Long Ashton has fond memories for us and It'll be nice to see the place again..

I Had a Gibson EH-150 4 pedal 6 string in 1965 and early '66, but later in '66 we went back to Ashton Court CC and Mike De Sousa joined us on bass, my sister went back to Torquay. I had my new Fender 1000. I remember it cost £75 more than a new Mini.

David thanks for your keen support for the Long Ashton Festival.

I have been abroad for the last 4 weeks - Malaysia, Thailand and Aus (WA in fact). The heat was hard to bear, got back 4:30 a.m. on Saturday - what a joy to back in a cool climate again.

Unfortunately I never thought of looking at the forums, even though I had access to the web - naughty me. It's very heartening to see the response, I'm already getting the feeling it will be a cracker.

I am preparing a website which will give more details and publish the playing schedule. I am in the process of creating a PayPal/Credit Card facility so people can book their tickets and choose their playing slot.

Ron has visited the venue and taken some pics - to aid our planning. I have paid for the venue so that is firmly booked.

At the risk of overstating the main objective of the festival - it is to get players to play their guitars.

p.s. Don't get confused by Basil's post above. The venue is the Long Ashton Community Centre - Basil is rabbiting on about a gig he did when the arc was a'building.

John your are right as usual - of course it's the 30th April though I'm not sure where I've written 31st.

Thanks for the correction in case it's somewhere.

By the way, Wills told me that he loves the 'air on a G string. If you could manage that I'll put in a good word for you. You'd only have to have one string on your guitar in tune (as usual) and wear a thong.

You are right Basil the forum clock is 1 hour fast. It probably can't be corrected just like posts that are a few hours old.

A case in point is that we have changed the name of the festival to "South of England Steel Guitar Festival". This will give us flexibility with the venue in the future. Unfortunately the topic takes its name from the Subject in the first post - mine. But since I can't change it, we're stuck with the Long Ashton moniker in the topic name.

By the way South of England Steel Guitar Festival is a mouthful so we should use the abbreviation SESGF, pronounced "sesgif".
