SSGW Tues 24th April

Postby Donny Johnston » Wed Mar 28, 2018 6:21 pm

A good night had by all last night, and a special thanks to Danny for all his efforts which will as usual be useless, sorry Bob couldn't make it but know one really missed him anyway, Willie won't be here at this meeting, there's a bonus, no fancy steel playing, now it's back to business. I have noticed for quite a while my own efforts on the Williams have become quite mediocre, I'm not happy with my playing,or my sound, and I'm really :censored: off complaining about my health and how I'm feeling, SO !!!, this month I will get my rather ample arse ( can I say that ) I just have, on the seat, get back to basics and put in some seat time, even If I am feeling like shit, and that's all I have to say about that. Regarding the meeting, we will go back to playing two tunes in a round robin, and put in some one to one. As no decision was made at last night meeting can I suggest we all pick two tunes from our back catalogue ( can you get a dogalogue ) rework it and make it better than you played it before. Enough moaning from me, see you all soon, Donny.

Do we really want a bit of hair to get in the way of a good meet? Back catalogue good for me as I only have a front catalogue to choose from so wtf! So we're getting Danny Fruits too? Magic...

Another grand soiree at Chez Gartcosh :guitar:

Great turnout, especially good to hear Bob back at the steel with all that 'business' going on behind the melody, braw. A fine mix of tunes were on offer with, for me, Calum's version of 'If You Could Read My Mind, Donny's Innisfree? And Robert's Girl In The Glass, standing out.

Nice to meet Ed, who I reckon has now been infected with the steel bug

Thanks for a most enjoyable evening Gents :guitar:

Sorry for the 'sharp harp' guys but my' geriatric sitter' was on the clock! and I promised a 10.30pm finish.

Danny you are right on the money with your comments (excluding me) the guys produced some really impressive playing tonight! And even Tony is becoming less nervous!

Calum's second number did it for me ... we could have messed with that all night!

Enjoyed my little bounce over that Vince Gill track with Davie.. a steel orchestra said Donny! .. mm..perhaps not.... but fun just the same!

Just had a quick blast through the CD Mr Mitchell ....Your presenter did make me smile!!!!

You're a star for your efforts Mr 'M' and believe me 'none but none' of us take you for granted!

Loved that last phrase on your last number, that was a belter! Sticking out!!! as my cousin used to say!

Hope I didn't miss too much after I left!!

Loving the CD Danny, everyone seems to have stepped up to the mark, some very fine playing on display indeed. A great wee memento of the meets. A title sprung to mind - Gartcosh Nights :guitar:

Enjoyed it last night despite the wounds inflicted at the start of the evening by whiplashing 0.11 strings flying around my MSA

Have noticed a great improvement in everyone's playing the past couple of meets, it's really encouraging, we must be doing something right.

Looking forward next month.
