SSGW Gartcosh Meeting Feb 2026

Our Meeting this week (which wouldn’t last, so said some!) is now two months down in its 14th year!

We had Davie W, Davie H. Willie, Brandon, Robert, John, yours truly and our newer young blood, Ross & Freddie with a new recruit Steve Lockie. We also had Gordon & Jean as passengers but not for long as Gordon will be picking up his first steel at next month’s meeting. Onwards and upwards!

There was some nice playing all round and it was great to see the lads had made an effort for this meeting, Freddie on ‘Faded love’ and Ross on ‘All of You’ both were terrific considering the short time they have been playing. … Super guys!!

Something to aspire to! And just a thought!

It would be good to have the odd demo night, something similar to what we have at Dublin and for those who were there, or at John Davis’s meetings in the South.

As per John’s meetings we could have those still learning and a teaching session for the first half of the night, then those more capable players playing a couple or three numbers for the latter half of the evening! It certainly worked very well in Cambridgeshire, no reason why it shouldn’t work in Lanarkshire.

We go to Dublin (at considerable expense) to be entertained and learn, why not Gartcosh for free!

We might even invite the odd celeb!!!

Well now Robert, I think that is a fantastic idea. It certainly worked for JD and to a certain extent DH. It is definitely something I would be willing to co operate with.
