That's a comprehensive and well thought out protocol you've got there Geoff. I hope enough forumites take up your kind offer. It would be great to hear/see all the, potentially, different takes on the selected tunes.
Well done that man :guitar:

I've sent my gmail address via PM Geoff. I really hope that this takes off as it's such a great idea of yours with much potential. It could be real fun as long as it's not treated in a competitive way. Who knows, it may even attract one or two of our American cousins to take part too once it's up and running. ;)

Thank you for your kind words Danny and Donny. I'm looking into setting up a Virtual Steelies Soundcloud page for those that can't do the video stuff but could record an audio mp3 or wav file. I realise that everyone here probably has a lot on their plate at the moment so I'm looking at ways we can kick this off, make a start and hopefully it will grow as time goes on.

Today I have some personal stuff to take care of so may not get a chance to do much until tomorrow or the weekend.

Ken, many thanks for your support, it means a lot to have a player, (and person), of your quality on board. I'll PM you with a idea I've had to get this kick started and see what you think :D

And yes, it would be great to have a few of our US cousins join in. The Italians out singing on their balconies has been a real inspiration of how to keep spirits up in the face of this terrible event.

Also just to say, once I have worked out a working version of this, I'll start a new thread with some How To pages on it so that folks can get involved if they so desire.

Quick update. I now have everything in place to make this happen, including a Soundcloud page for uploading audio files only. I'll put together a How To over the next few days and get it up for everyone to read. :guitar:

Well done Geoff, I really think this has a lot of potential for the greater good of the forum and the promotion of the steel guitar. Hopefully it's embraced by the many not the few. (And this is coming from a guy who isn't playing, (temporarily)).
If it helps at all, there are some old SSGW backing tracks available in the 'News' section. Perhaps to get the ball rolling.

Hi Danny, I've just about finished the How To's for PC users, hopefully get them up to the forum over the weekend. I thought it would be an idea to start with a pilot just to test it all out with a single song for March. Ken has been very helpful and has offered to supply the backing track for this and he's also going to do his version, ( so it's all downhill after that  ).

It would be good if anyone who wants to be involved could PM me their Gmail email address and I can get them set up with the Shared Google Drives, so they will have access to the backing tracks and the folder to upload their versions, either as a video or a soundfile.

So come on Steelies let's get this kicked off, PM me with your gmails and let's get started.

BTW Danny, this is a good reason to get that lovely GFI out from underneath your bed and show us the talented player I know you are 8-) :guitar:
