Hello all.
I was fortunate enough to attend the North East Sttel Guitar Festival yesterday (stil going on today) at the Buck Inn in Thornton Watlass. I only managed a brief stay as I was with my 10 year old lad, who has a shorter attention span the me (people who know me might argue that point).
I only managed to see and hear 4-5 players but loved each performance equally. Everything about what I enjoy about steel guitar was encapsulated in those short sets. From startling pedal steel virtuosity through to some down home hawaian (spelling?) 'roots' steel. Marvellous stuff.
Albeit a brief visit, I did manage to pick up some words of wisdom from one or two attendees and the welcome was very warm and inclusive.
Well done to all concerned for pulling the event together and maybe next time I'll be able to stay longer and get to know a few people a bit better.
Special thanks to Tony for the welcome and apologies for not being able to stop long enough to see your set. I'm sure I'll be in touch.
Martyn.
