North East Steelers - April 22nd

Mon Apr 23, 2018 9:10 am

Once again we had a friendly and enjoyable afternoon at the Buck Inn. We started with a couple of Round Robin tunes with everyone throwing in their interpretations of Blue Eyes Cryin and Deep Water. Following this most attendees offered their solo pieces for the enjoyment? Of the others. Next we had a general "Jam" with tunes mainly provided by Rod and Rosemary King along with recently new member john Stafford playing Snare Drum, which added a new dimension to the afternoon.
As usual the staff at the Buck Inn provided the room free of charge and prepared good food during our break. I'm adding some pics to show that this event really did happen !!!

What a fine array of guitars. I've had the pleasure of hearing Derek's Rains, lovely.
Great stuff! Keep up the good work lads :guitar: and lass :guitar:

Tony's Fender looks a little different to the way that it did when I last saw it over 30 years ago!

The boys beat me to it this time!
It was another really good session. I feel I am improving (albeit rather slowly) and picked up useful tips and ideas. Some really good playing from everyone in a relaxed setting, great company, lots of laughs. Look out for the next date - mid to late June, to be confirmed soon.
The 'house' band - 'Rocksteady' Rosemary on bass and john 'Brushes' Stafford on snare make a great rhythm section!
I must make a note of tunes played - Keith and Rod play some lovely (but unknown to me) tunes on various 'planks' and tunings.

Thank you for the pictures of "Six Musicians and a Drummer"
It was an honour to be a sideman for the "King S(w)ingers trio.
The drumming was my attempt to make up from my lack
of preparation of the Round Robin tunes!
Thanks to all present for a great day.

John Stafford
