North East steelers January 2017

A reminder to all that the next meeting of the North East steelers will be held on Sunday 28th January at the Buck inn, Thornton Watlass, 12 noon.

Round robin backing tracks for Love Me Tender (C) and I Love You Because (G) have been sent out previously. We have also planned for individual spots to highlight your own tunes - bring your backing tracks, or contact Keith and Derek, or bring your own band!
Hoping for a good turn-out. Keep your eyes open for late e mails in case the weather is dodgy and we need to postpone but I'm banking on a sunny, 16C spring afternoon!!!

Nick, I'm not going to be able to get up to Yorkshire for this weekend's meet-up. Sorry, but definitely later this year. I hope it all goes well.

The meeting this weekend was attended by the usual suspects: Rod and Rosemary King, Tony Russell Davies, Derek Evans, John Stafford and myself.
We started off with a Round Robin rendition of I Love you Because, then had a session where all attendees did a 10 minute solo spot. There were some new tunes and some old favourites during this section. Following that we all had a snack from the excellent menu at the Buck Inn.
After lunch we did another Round Robin of Love Me Tender which came with some good improvisation from all players. Then we did another solo spot for whoever wanted to have a go.
All in all it was yet another good meeting in a very pleasant pub. No fees, the room is free of charge.
Incidentally, John Stafford travels to the meeting from Stockport, so where are the more local players.
A big thanks once again to the staff of the Buck Inn.
