I'm a bit disappointed that the North East Steel Guitar Festival hasn't been given more publicity on the Forum.
It's happening 8th and 9th of August at The Buck Inn in Thornton Watlass, Yorkshire.
I went last year for the first time last year and enjoyed it immensly. Good players, good food and a great welcoming atmosphere.
Attending were Basil Hendriques and Donny Johnson on PSG and Rod King the well known Lap Steel player. Rod's wife played Bass guitar in a couple of impromtu sets and Pat Hendriques joined in on Rhythm Guitar as well as backing Basil. Quite a few other PSG players displayed their skills (I'm afraid I don't know all of their names), along with a few Lap Steel players. Tony Russel Davis had a friend accompanying him on a very nice Cort Archtop guitar, and there were also a couple of Uke players during the session. The whole event was great.
The Buck Inn is a great place for the Festival, which is organised by Digby Hardy, assisted by Tony Russell Davis. A Buffet Lunch is available for a small fee, good fresh food and well worth the cost.
It's a good weekend event for any afficionados who have the time to attend and I hope to make some new acquaintances there.
Keith.

Well said keith. I had to check with Tony that it was still on!
Maybe it's the steel guitar world's 'Best Kept Secret'!
However, I'm hugely looking forward to it and to meet some of the stalwarts of the steel guitar scene - assuming they know it's on!
See you Saturday!!

North/South divide Nick?
I'm surprised that Digby hasn't been on the Forum to push this event. You and I amongst others know the venue and that it's an ideal location for a good session. Let's hope other members read this and make the effort to attend. I'll be there along with "locals", Derek Evans, yourself and Tony Russel Davis. I also know that Donny Johnson will be playing and he's well worth the drive to get there!
I've had my say. Let's see some faces on the day(s).
Keith.
