News of forthcoming Steel Guitar events, meetings and Festivals

Just wanted to be the first to say thanks to John for the Great Barford bash today. I was unable to stay very long, and medical reasons prevented me from bringing my guitar along, but I thought it was a really excellent event, I learned lots from jhust being present (and have already nailed down 'Raining in my Heart' with the half-pedal)!
Sorry to think this was the last event - what can we do to persuade you to carry on, John - or is there a successor lined up?
Whatever, it was a real treat to hear you play, John, and to share your knowledge and skill so freely. I'd also like to say thanks to all those who were helping on the day, for the catering and so on - clearly not a 'one-man band' enterprise. Thanks to everyone involved and good to meet steelies, check over kit and generally gawp at the beautiful guitars on view. Can I have some more, please?

I'll second that...Nice one John, it was a great day!!! Well done to all involved.. It was so nice to meet everyone in person that I've been chatting to on the forum and who have helped me out along the way
Great playing as always from John and David..I really enjoyed Basil's playing and Rod on the lapsteel was absolutely savage.
Well done to all the steelies for turning out, it is our duty to keep the instrument alive and well in this country and for me meetings like this make me want to be a part of that...this will NOT be the last one...
take care you lot

John, thanks for all the effort you and the rest of the team put in. Sorry that I wasn't able to contribute fully but I did learn a lot about where I need to go in my quest to get back playing. Unfortunately with the prospect of a 500 mile round trip, I missed the evening session but still believe the day was very worthwhile. Please, please, please re-consider your retirement plans and help us all out again.
Regards, H.

John. It was my first time and although I did'nt play I did learn a lot from watching and listening. We had a super day and met some really nice people. Many thanks to you and everyone who helped you make the day such a success.
Best regards
Neil

Thank you guys for all the nice comments, I too, thought it reasonably ok, despite a shortage of accomplished players there to help the newbies in the teaching section. I know there were some really good players in the hall but what time they arrived ,I have no idea, so I sit there showing the newbies all my bad habbits and sloppy ways..... What chance they got?????
If you take out all the usual suspects that were unable to make it for a number of reasons and I stress ,at no fault of their own, then you would think the meeting would have been a much lesser event, but I did`ent think that was the case?
There were at least 8 excellant players A.W.O.L who would normally have played a solo spot and they were sorely missed by me......but, great to see so many new faces as well!, What really made my night was Roger bringing Eric Snowball to the gig whom I regard (with Gordon`s help) as the Father of UK Steel Guitar...
It was also nice to see such a large audience who stayed with us untill the last note was played,,,,,,,,
