Peavey Special 130

Hi All,

I bought a used Peavey special 130 as it was recomended to be a good amp for Pedal Steel.
Problem is I can't seem to get a tone out of it that I like / or can stand and think it's got something to do with the midshift/frequency knob.

The tone is what i can only explaine as "unsmooth" or slightly grating unless I turn the mids all the way down and then it's too thin.

It's very loud and I feel it could be very usable if I could dial it in right.

Anyone have any experience with this amp and can suggest some settings?
(Ps. I am using the clean channel that is only selectable via the foot switch)

My Guitar is a Shobud Pro1 with stock pickup.

Any help is appreciated otherwise it's going on Ebay.

Thanks
Darren

John,

Your settings really cleared up that unbearable grating tone. I will take it out on my next gig and see how it goes.
Matt Park has suggested a speaker change so I will try that to.

Thanks again
