Nashville 400 Volume Pots

The pre-gain push/pull volume/bright pot on my Nashville 400 seems to be on it's last legs and could do with being replaced.
I did see some posts some while ago, and at the time it seems there was some difficulty sourcing them.
Barnes & Mullins based in Oswestry have been UK Peavey Distributors for the UK and Ireland since 2015.
Although trade only, they were happy to supply me with a couple of these pots from stock at a reasonable price. The old part no. of 71190414 has been superseded by part no. 71190422. According to my schematic it is also fitted to the Vegas as you might expect.
The contact there is Peter Hoggett - direct line - 01691-668327 - a very friendly, helpful chap and happy to have a mention on the forum.
Hope I'm not going over old ground, but I don't remember seeing a definitive outcome from the various posts.

Roy, hope Barnes & Mullins can supply one, but back when Peavey was still in UK I tried to get one but was told this pot was no longer available, what was on offer as a replacement was a single pot, not the stacked push/pull, meaning loss of the bright facility. I managed to source one from Ken Fox on US forum, but even that was a used one, and Ken is not doing repairs now.

Bob, spoke to Mike Brown of Peavey at Dallas show, he confirmed that the stacked pot for 400 is not available, their supplier no longer makes them, and replacement is a single pot, so no bright position is available.

Stewart-Macdonald (StewMac) does a huge range of pots with audio taper and push/pull switches on the back. I'd be pretty surprised if you couldn't find something there which would duplicate the function of the Peavey pot. Worth a look.

It's the tags of the pots that are key, as the original pots are to be able to be soldered into a pcb as well as be affixed with a nut to the front panel. A few years ago I bought a bag full of replacement pots for my Peavey 400 series amps (Jazz Classic, Nashville and Vegas) when Peavey were based at Corby, Northampton. They only let me have 2 of the piggyback pots, which I will keep should mine need replacing. The rest are the single pot type, and have the necessary 'crows feet' contacts on them. I have had to replace quite a few scratchy pots on my Nashville 400, so I was quite pleased that I had the foresight to obtain the pots all those years ago.

I reckon that any decent electronics engineer should be able to install a stacked pot for you and run short wires from the pot to the pcb. Maybe Mark Dunn can pitch in with a view on the viability of this.

Have you tried Allparts UK? They stock a range of pots for amps, including a push-pull type.

Did you pickers not see my post regarding availability of the Vol Pot for the Vegas and Nashville 400 ?
I bought a couple of these from Barnes & Mullins just a few weeks ago - the original double stacks with pull for bright.

Bob, glad you got pot, when I spoke to Mike Brown Peavey tech rep at Dallas last week he definately said they were not available as the company that supplied Peavey no longer made them.Maybe Barnes & Mullins have sourced another supplier, which is good news, a lot of Nashville and Vegas amps around.

I did actually buy two of these pots from Barnes & Mullins in February. Perhaps I was just lucky before they ran out.
It turns out that the pot in my Nashville just needed a squirt of cleaner - seems ok now.
I doubt I'm going to need both, so there is one going. I paid (£18.24 for the two including postage) - so I reckon £9.00 incl post.
Be aware as per Ken's post that these need to be soldered into the circuit board - and although I am handy enough with the old soldering iron, I think I would have preferred someone a bit handier to carry that out.
