Hello Everyone. I am new to the forum and pedalsteel guitars. I have just aquired an old Rotosound D10 which is OK electrically, but is in a poor mechanical condition. Please excuse the very non-technical terms as I am unsure of the correct terminology. There are several parts that seem to have gone astray, the main ones being quite a few of the tension/return spings that fix to the ends of the pitch changer rods and attach to the body. Also the sprung stops that slot onto the rods and are held in place by small grub screws.
If I am able to source some I will then be able to set about creating some sense on the underside as currently some rods appear to perform no function and some are impeded by no having stops or return springs. I think that it should be possible to return the guitar to working condition if I can get my hands on these spares.
Please note. I live in Shetland and so would have to mail order any parts.

Hello Gary, you have come to the right place, Rotosound was my 1st pedal steel way back in 1969 I think. Is it the orange one. Is there enough rods between the 2 necks to make one good one. Someone here will be able to help. I have been to Shetland many times, I couldn't stay there I'd be an alcoholic. Do you know Alex Johnson, used to be the chemist, also had a music shop for a while, if you do pass on my regards. Donny.

Hello Donny. Thank you for replying. I'm hoping to keep both the necks alive if possible. The springs should be fairly generic as long as I can find some of the approximately similar length and tension. It's the stops on the rods that I'm a bit more wary of. They seem to have a small spring section that I think may act as a shock absorber when the rod is returning to its resting position. I don't want to use a 'work 'round' if it means that it affects the performance of the mechanism!
As for Alex Johnson, I'm afaid the name doesn't ring a bell. I live on Unst which is a distance from 'the toon' so I not so familier with all the comings and goings.
If you, or anyone else on the forum has any thoughts about the 'shock absorbers' I would be grateful for any info.
