Looking for a coil tap switch box

Postby jonshack » Sat Jun 11, 2022 3:57 pm

I’m adding a coil tap switch under my Sho~Bud (not on the end plate) does anyone have any ideas where I can get a neat looking switch box that will tidy away the wiring and mount to the wood with a couple of small screws? Something in-keeping aesthetically ie metal, not plastic, ideally. I can’t find anything searching for boxes, mounts or enclosures… maybe I have the wrong terminology?

Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

Jon
China is manufacturing small aluminium boxes, which is what you are looking for I would imagine. Here is one such company.

You could try RS Components UK online and search for "enclosures"

Thanks for these suggestions, I really can’t find anything on RS, despite thousands of “panel mount” toggle switches, very little in terms of mounts, brackets, panels, enclosures or anything.

Maybe I’m being a bit fussy about style but I ended up looking at classic car dashboard parts and went for this little chrome panel off eBay. Should stop me accidentally grabbing wires and I think it will look right on the ‘Bud. I might even be able to get the light to come on  :D . I’ll definitely be asking how to wire it up when the time comes, I haven’t done a coil tap before. I imagine the switch will need replacing.
