Premiervox - What to do?

Postby Premier » Fri Mar 27, 2020 5:09 pm

I have a Premiervox, Model B I believe, Hawaiian/Plectrum Guitar, circa 1935. I'd imagine many of you may know about these, if not, a quick Google search will reveal all.
It was my late fathers, I don't know when he bought it, I never saw him play it. I have no real ambition to play it, I play bass. It has been in its case since he died in 1969 and unfortunately it's not in the best of health. I don't know whether he bought it as it is now or whether it was mistreated by his children! If you are interested enough to look at the pics you'll see what I mean!
I'm wondering what to do with it since I don't think it's of any interest to anyone else in the family. They are rare, but I did see a pristine one a couple of years ago in a Denmark Street, London, dealer, I think it was priced at around £2000.
The questions I need to answer are
- who, and at what cost, could get it back to being useable. It still plays but there is damage to the bakelite body. And the amplifier needs a lot of attention, there is one valve missing and who knows if the others still work.
- or might someone be interested as it is - a circa 1935 piece of guitar history!
All comments/suggestions welcome!
