Our own Richard Burton is the recognised expert on 'pull release' guitars, if Richard doesnt know how, then it cant be done.
Roland amps, Telecaster, Tyros 4 and several self built steels.

Hello again, Simon; my word, you've been busy! I'm convinced your way is the one...pedals are now set up as suggested, RKR will lower the 'E's, and it's looking theoretically hopeful for LKR.
Well, when I say 'set up' that means I'm doing a lot of standing and staring, saying 'hmmm' a lot, trimming bits here, shuffling stuff there, eliminating backlash, and persuading paired strings to rise and fall by the same amount. And without clunks and squeaks. You know the score.
So you know less than nothing about steels? Well, I'm not quite that qualified! However, if there'd been a degree course in Mechanical Curiosity and Arcane Linkage Jiggery-spannery, I'd be an M.A.(hons)...
I followed the link you supplied, and yes! It makes sense...Every scrap of info you've forwarded is useful; another brick in the wall, another piece in the jigsaw - many thanks. I'm in Birmingham, by the way.
I'll be in touch,
Regards,
Jonny
