Very interesting, Mick, thanks for that info.

Did somebody mention Rod King, I used to play bass for him back in the early sixties, we got on well as I was one of the few who could keep up with him. That was in Manchester if its the same Rod King

The steel is not that unusual As Slimbo is still playing the single 10 version I reckon........ and there is only one Rod King to my knowledge and he lives around the corner from me, and Rosemary still playing some 1St class Bass playing for him.....

Hi Danny,
I just stumbled across this post and recognised the guitar! It's a Conchord, British made as far as I know - I had an identical one that had been refinished in black that I sold at the end of 2017. It's the one I'm playing in a couple of youtube vids in this thread: https://www.thebritishsteeliessociety.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=9111
There's very little info available on these, or at least that I could find. I managed to get some reasonably nice sounds out of mine, and only sold it to fund getting one with pedals. Not sure if that was a good idea or not... :?

Spot on, Sid. It is a Conchord and one of the lads from the SSGW, Robert MacNeilage P.I., revealed that it was made by one Cyril Proctor, hailing from Leeds and active from the 40s up to the 50s.
Yes, I enjoyed the sound you got out of it, I'd checked out those clips you posted. :guitar: If you're ever gigging this far north, give us a shout, that's right up my apples and pears.

Hi Danny, we did one a while back at a great R&R club in Hamilton - run by a fantastic chap called Charles Mitchell - and will hopefully get up there again before too long. In the meantime, if your appetite for Rockabilly music can't wait, have a look at the 'Jungle Rockers' Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/junglerockers/ I think they're putting on bands every month or so.

The nearest we're getting to the border this year is Newcastle, at the Rock Ridge Rumble on Sat 4th August (around tea time - so I'm not sure how well attended our set will be!). If you fancy coming along I can see if I can get you in for nowt ;)

Thanks for the info Sid :D

I checked out the Jungle Rockers page and the first face I saw was, none other than our very own Gartcosh 'Rockabilly' member, Tony Totten  It's a small world.
