Nick
There should be a long row of letters and numbers indented in the back casing of the pots. Quite simply the guidance is thus - the last two letters divulge what taper the pots are. "UA" is linear taper, "AA" is audio (log) taper. Fingers crossed that yours end with AA. 8-)

Nick, old Hornsby is loaded he can afford to buy a new Dunlop or Goodrich Dunlop type pot, tell him to sell one of his old dobros, and tell him not to go ahead with loft conversion otherwise Mr Stephenson might move in and squat.

Ha ha - what can I say.

Nick - If you go to the bottom of this page http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum11/HTML/003708.html it would appear that you may be lucky, or the AB might just be the initials for the manufacturer. :o

I think you're right, Ken! AB = Allan Bradley  However, the pot has 2 long numbers on it, one ending MA nd the other ending4B. It's a Type J.

I'll check out the website as well. Thanks, as always.

So, having checked the helpful web link I find it's a linear pot... 250K

I'm still no wiser as to whether it's gold or a turkey...
