OK..

Understood now.

I suppose it's good to learn how it all works...

And I made a few changes over the years, so, tinker away..

Nick
Look up Light Image Resizer by ObviousIdea. free to download, I think.
Also, if you're anywhere near Essex Feel free to drop in at some point, if you want a hand with your steel. I'm not too shabby at tinkering- two heads and all that!
I'm in stanford-le-hope.

Thanks David, Arcada and Jason...

I have no idea if I've done this right and seem only to be able to upload one picture (which I can't see?)

If it's the right one it should show a (reasonably close) shot of the little gizmo and the crank. Cranks have 8 holes. The little gizmo seems to have a 'split' washer that seems to hold it in place...

I now seem to have got 2 pictures - all very confusing. Think I'll post this and see what comes out before I commit more nonsense to this post.

Someone has been putting to much oil on that guitar..

As Fred Justice told me, 1 x drop of oil, if put on a smooth surface, will cover 10 square metres...

Time to get the cotton buds out on that Nick...

Nick - someone with a small lathe (e.g. someone that makes scale-model trains or boats) could turn out those brass collars easily out of brass round bar and you can buy circlips. Only the diameter of the peg that goes through the bell crank and, maybe, the hole for the rod are at all critical. The larger diameter and thickness of the collar and the grub screw size can be varied, within reason.
My lathe is out of commission just now, but I can think of somebody on here that  might be able to help out here? T.
PS - You could even adapt some old Meccano brass collars, if you are that handy?

David - guilty as charged re the oil (although at least it is sewing machine oil and not something thicker).
Tony - never had Meccano or anything of that ilk... I did do metalwork at school. My teacher once said to me, "Ah bet thy sister shapes better than thee". An accurate summary of my technical skills.
I think for now I'm going to leave well alone. If I really can't live without split tunings, I'll seek professional help. I also realise that I haven't got the LKV adjusted properly, so I might try and live without it for a while and see where that takes me.
