Was wondering if any owners of the old (1970’s) Peavey Nashville 400 amplifier have had an intermittent problem with it not “firing up” when switched on?
Instead of the usual loud “pop”, there’s a quiet click but the power light comes on.
After lots of attempts, it eventually does power up OK and can be fine for days before the problem returns.
I’ve changed every electrolytic capacitor and upgraded all the op-amp chips.
Any suggestions, particularly from anyone who’s had this problem fixed would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Rich. I had this problem quite a while ago, after a lot of footering around I discovered that the calor gas bottle was empty, a quick change for a full bottle solved the problem. Donny

I should have known that you'd have the correct answer, Donny!!
Run out of gas, eh? My, my, yer a mechanical/maniacal genius, ma man!
I thought maybe the hamster had fallen off the wheel or a belt had come off the boiler.
Speak later .... just off to the garage for a gas bottle.

Thanks, Pete - I'll replace the switch, which I guess has seen quite a few power-ons during its lifetime.

Is the switch on the amp or the gas bottle as I cannot lift my Session 500 to check.

It's to the left of the flux capacitor, near the thingmybobberdoodah.

Don't listen to them Rich, you know and I know the gas bottle is handled by the gas fairies and can't be seen except by a completely qualified loony. I can verify you're certificates are up to date. Your closest supporter, Donny.
